Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Kimberley Coast, from the charming town of Broome to the rugged landscapes of outback Wyndham, on this premium luxury cruise. Highlights include the magnificent King George River, the Prince Regent Nature Reserve with its stunning King’s Cascades, Montgomery Reef, the rock art of Vansittart Bay, and the spectacular scenery of Raft Point in the Doubtful Bay region. We’ll also visit the iconic Horizontal Falls, celebrated as one of the world’s greatest natural wonders.
Day 1 – Broome
Your Kimberley cruise will commence around 5:00 PM with drinks and canapés on the bow. As we set off, the Chef will delight you with your first exquisite dinner while we cruise up the coast toward the Buccaneer Archipelago.
Day 2 – Yampi Sound to Talbot Bay
On your first full day onboard, we’ll cruise across the expansive King Sound to Yampi Sound, where you can swim in turquoise waters and explore pristine silica-white sand beaches. You might also take your first refreshing freshwater swim beneath the stunning waterfall at Crocodile Creek. Afterward, relax as we continue our afternoon cruise through the Koolan Island Gap, weaving past numerous small islands on our way to experience the world-famous Horizontal Falls.
Day 3 – Doubtful Bay
Rise to magnificent views of the Raft Point headland. We’ll spend the day exploring waterfalls, swimming, and fishing in the Glenelg River, Red Cone Creek, or Three Ways. As the evening arrives, you’ll join the crew and fellow guests to watch the sunset and toast to a day of unforgettable adventures.
Day 4 – Montgomery Reef
Experience the breathtaking tidal flows of Montgomery Reef on an early morning cruise along this remarkable reef structure. Your crew will share the fascinating history of the area as we search for grazing turtles, roaming sharks, and the occasional dugong. You’ll also have the thrilling opportunity to view the reef from above with our onboard helicopter. After the tide turns, we’ll cruise up to Camden Sound, where we’ll anchor for the evening.
Day 5 – Camden Sound
We’ll begin our day by exploring Camden Sound and Sheep Island, the site of the first attempted European settlement in the Kimberley. As we cruise through Port George and Treachery Passage into Saint Georges Basin, you’ll be captivated by the stunning scenery. Your crew will highlight key Kimberley features, including Mount Trafalgar and Mount Waterloo, as we enter the Prince Regent River. We might even have the chance to fish during the low tide at sunset.
Day 6 – Prince Regent River/King Cascade
In the morning, we’ll continue our cruise along the Prince Regent River, reaching the iconic King Cascade. The Skipper will anchor the boat beneath the waterfall for a fantastic photo opportunity. Afterward, we’ll take the tender boats to the river’s edge to begin our walk through rocky outcrops and alongside the fern-lined waterfall, arriving at the back of the cascade. You’ll also have the option for a scenic helicopter flight to take in this unique river system from the air. In the afternoon, we’ll make our way out of the Prince Regent River toward Careening Bay, where Philip Parker King careened his boat in 1820.
Day 7 – Hunter River
The Hunter River is a picturesque waterway abundant with fat barramundi and succulent mud crabs, offering plenty of opportunities to forage for lunch. For the adventurous, we can embark on a challenging hike to Jackson’s Falls. In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to take a helicopter ride to Manning Peak for sunset drinks.
Day 8 – York Sound/Winyalken Island
Waking up in York Sound, we’ll embark on a walk through a tropical rainforest, culminating in a refreshing swim at Benno’s Waterfall. After lunch, we’ll cruise to Swift Bay and Winyalken Island. This enchanting island, adorned with Livistona Palms, resembles a storybook pirate haven. We’ll explore caves and discover the fascinating Wandjina and Gwion Gwion rock art along the way.
Day 9 – Mitchell River
This breathtaking wide river system features waterfalls and rock pools that we can explore on foot. As an open estuary river, it serves as an ideal hunting ground for barramundi. We’ll take the opportunity to drop some mud crab pots before lunch. Afterward, we’ll head to Surveyors Creek, a charming gorge located about halfway down the Mitchell River, where you can enjoy a swim in a large waterhole.
Day 10 – Osborne Islands
The Osborne Islands, a protected group of islands, offer abundant adventure opportunities. We’ll start the day with either a fishing excursion or a beachcombing adventure. Later in the morning, the group can opt for a helicopter ride to a secluded waterfall for a picnic lunch and a refreshing swim. In the evening, we’ll come together on the beach to watch the sunset and enjoy a cosy bonfire.
Day 11 – Vansittart Bay
We’ll start the day with a fishing excursion, targeting a variety of pelagic species such as Giant Trevally, Queenfish, Tuna, and Mackerel. You might also have the chance to catch Mangrove Jack, Fingermark, or Bluebone. After fishing, we’ll cool off with a quick swim before trekking to see the intriguing Bradshaw (Gwion Gwion) ancient rock art galleries. Back onboard, we’ll enjoy lunch as we cruise into the cove to explore a wrecked World War II DC3 plane.
Day 12 – King George River
Savor your breakfast against the backdrop of cathedral-like gorges as we cruise down the breathtaking King George River. We’ll approach the cascading waterfalls, where you can take a shower on the bow of the boat. The rest of the day will be spent exploring and immersing yourself in the stunning scenery of this incredible area.
Day 13 – Berkeley River
The Berkeley River is a breathtaking river system that provides a range of soft adventure options, including nature walks and swimming in freshwater pools. You’ll also have the chance to cast your line and potentially catch a barramundi before enjoying a scenic walk to a waterhole. In the afternoon, we’ll cruise back down the river and anchor just outside the mouth to relax for the late afternoon.
Day 14 – Wyndham
After 2 weeks of unforgettable experiences with the crew and fellow guests, this marks a significant day for everyone. We’ll cruise overnight into Wyndham and disembark the boat at 8:00 AM for your bus transfer back to your accommodation in Kununurra.
The itinerary is also available in reverse from Wyndham to Broome.
