The 10-Day Adventure Quest offers an in-depth exploration of the southern Kimberley, taking you to hidden gems, remote islands, secluded inlets, and secret spots rarely visited by others. Revel in pristine beaches, tranquil freshwater swimming holes, ancient Aboriginal art sites, and the thrill of fishing for barramundi and other local species.
This round-trip from Broome showcases iconic sights such as the Horizontal Waterfalls, Montgomery Reef, and Kings Cascade waterfall, among many others. Your journey through the southern Kimberley will immerse you in breathtaking landscapes, reveal the region’s rich history, and provide unforgettable scenic experiences.
Day 1: Broome – Cape Leveque
Step aboard the Kimberley Quest II, where your captain and crew will warmly welcome you. Enjoy a refreshing drink as you watch the sun dip below the horizon while cruising past the famous Cable Beach.
Day 2: Buccaneer Archipelago, Dugong Bay, Talbot Bay
This morning, cross the expansive King Sound and navigate through the stunning islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, offering your first taste of the Kimberley. Cool off with a swim in Dugong Bay, then embark on a scenic tender excursion. Later, head to Talbot Bay, home to the iconic Horizontal Waterfalls. Experience an exhilarating ride through this natural wonder before taking a scenic excursion up Cyclone Creek to admire its breathtaking rock formations.
Day 3: Surprise Falls, Secure Bay
Mid-morning, visit Surprise Falls for a refreshing swim. Continue to Secure Bay, where you can witness incredible tidal movements and spectacular whirlpools. Join a tender excursion to explore the vibrant colors of ancient sandstone cliffs and the stunning Kimberley Rose. In the late afternoon, try your hand at fishing for giant trevally, mackerel, tuna, and queenfish.
Day 4: Montgomery Reef, Sale River & Raft Point
Cruise to the breathtaking Montgomery Reef, Australia’s largest inshore reef covering over 300 km². Watch the tide fall, creating a spectacular waterfall effect. Enjoy a tender ride to spot marine species, including turtles and seabirds. Next, explore the Sale River, taking an excursion upstream to swim in spring-fed rainforest pools and view ancient rock art. In the afternoon, anchor below Raft Point and hike to the caves featuring exquisite Wandjina art. Enjoy stunning views of the Kimberley Coast at sunset.
Day 5: Doubtful Bay, Red Cone Creek, Camden Sound
Today is filled with adventure as you cruise to Three Ways for barramundi fishing and mud crabbing. Explore Ruby Falls off Red Cone Creek, a picturesque swimming hole surrounded by water lilies. As you cruise through Camden Sound, marvel at the playful antics of humpback whales in their breeding sanctuary.
Day 6: Camden Harbour, Rothsay Water
Early morning brings pelagic fishing or a quest for Kimberley rock oysters. Visit Camden Harbour, site of a failed 19th-century sheep farming settlement. In the mid-afternoon, cruise towards Rothsay Water for a tender excursion exploring ancient Bradshaw and Wandjina art.
Day 7: Prince Regent River, King Cascade, Cathedral Falls
Cruising up the Prince Regent River, marvel at the pristine waterway that cuts through sandstone cliffs and gorges. We arrive at the King Cascade which is a spring-fed waterfall, surrounded by lush ferns and a myriad of wildlife. Climb above the falls for an unforgettable swim in a massive crystal clear pool. Be rewarded with a breathtaking view over the magnificent Prince Regent River in the distance – wilderness adventuring at its best! Late afternoon join our guides for an excursion to Cathedral Falls, while spotting crocodiles and flying foxes. Alternatively fish the Price Regent River which is renowned for big barra and threadfin salmon.
Day 8: Hanover Bay, Booby Island
Enjoy a tender excursion around historic Hanover Bay, learning about the exploits of explorer George Grey. Cruise past the scenic sandstone and basalt islands of Brunswick Bay. Marvel at the remote seabird colony on Booby Island and try your luck at pelagic fishing.
Day 9: Heywood & Champagny Island
Spend the day exploring the crystal-clear beaches of Heywood and Champagny Island. Visit a historic WWII radar base, a fascinating heritage site. Stroll on deserted beaches, take refreshing swims, and as your journey nears its end, savor a sunset while watching spectacular humpback whales.
Day 10: Broome
Arrive in the Port of Broome around 7:00 AM. Enjoy your final breakfast onboard, then bid farewell to the crew of the Kimberley Quest II. Disembarkation is at approximately 8:00 AM, where a courtesy vehicle will transfer you to your accommodation.
