Broome – Hunter River to Broome (Fly/Cruise) & V.V
Day One – Broome
Guests will be collected from their accommodation around 4:30 PM. Once aboard, you’ll have the chance to meet fellow guests and the crew, get settled into your accommodation, and go over our safety procedures. As the skipper steams out of Broome, relax with a drink and some nibbles while enjoying views of the famous Cable Beach, the gateway to the Kimberley.
Day Two – Horizontal Waterfalls
Wake up to the beautiful sights of Yampi Sound. Start your day with breakfast, and depending on the tide, you can board one of our custom-built tenders to collect black lip oysters or fish the headlands and creeks. Once back on board, MV Diversity II will head to the famous swimming hole at Crocodile Creek, created by iron ore workers living on Koolan Island about 40 years ago. Lunch will be served as we navigate through the Koolan Channel. We’ll continue on to Dugong Bay and into Talbot Bay, where you can experience the thrill of the amazing Horizontal Falls. After a delicious evening meal, MV Diversity II will set off for the night, allowing you to enjoy a restful sleep under the stunning Kimberley night sky.
Day Three – Doubtful Bay
Awaken to the enticing aroma of fresh coffee and breakfast being prepared. Once you’re energized, relax and enjoy the scenic steam through Raft Point into Doubtful Bay. This area serves as the gateway to numerous waterways, each featuring its own unique landscapes and swimming holes. Spend the day engaging in your choice of activities, whether it’s fishing, mud crabbing, or exploring the many freshwater swimming holes that the Kimberley keeps hidden.
Day Four – Montgomery Reef
Departing Red Cone Creek early in the day, we’ll enjoy a short steam to nearby Montgomery Reef. Once anchored, guests can take a scenic tour as the reef rises from the ocean, with water cascading into the channel. You’ll have the option to fish the run-offs or simply capture the beauty of this special part of the Kimberley with your camera.
Day Five – Deception Bay
Wake up in Deception Bay at low tide, where you’ll have the chance to fish and gather Black Tip Kimberley Oysters. Once the tide rises, the crew will take you for a refreshing swim at one of the many freshwater swimming holes. Afterward, MV Diversity will depart Deception Bay and steam north to the magnificent Prince Regent River.
Day Six –Cascade Waterfalls
Start your day in St George Basin with an exciting tender ride up Spit Fire Creek, where you can try your luck at catching the coveted barramundi. As the tide rises, we’ll make our way to Kings Cascade, with the skipper skillfully maneuvering the boat right under the majestic waterfall. Here, you can take a refreshing swim and explore the stunning hiking trails nearby. In the evening, MV Diversity will head back to Camp Creek, where you can unwind for the night.
Day Seven – Camp Creek
After breakfast, guests can try their hand at fishing in the river for Fingermark and Mangrove Jack. You’ll also have the chance to leisurely explore the local Aboriginal artwork in the area. When the tide is high, the crew will take you on a tender ride up to Camp Creek, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim and relax by the waterfall. MV Diversity will then ride the outgoing tide and anchor at Careening Bay for the night.
Day Eight – Mermaid Tree
Guests will go ashore to visit the Mermaid Tree and discover the rich history of the area. Following this, MV Diversity will steam to the Hunter River and Perosis Creek, where you can choose to fish or explore the stunning surroundings. To celebrate the final night, guests will enjoy a beach bonfire on Naturaliste Island, followed by a delicious dinner back on board.
Day Nine – Scenic Flight
After breakfast, guests will take a helicopter ride over the breathtaking Mitchell Falls to the Mitchell Plateau. Following this, you’ll enjoy a scenic flight back to Broome, soaking in the stunning views from above.
Note This itinerary is for guests cruising from Broome to Hunter River. Guests cruising from Hunter River to Broome the itinerary is reversed. On Day one, guests are collected at sunrise and travel by air to Hunter River. Guests start their cruise around midday and arrive in Broome mid-morning on Day 9.
